God is not moved by your storm

When the lives of Jesus and the disciples were threatened by a storm, Jesus was sleeping. The disciples however, panicked and feared that the storm would cause them to drown. The waves swept over the boat, but Jesus was not moved. He became very upset at his disciples’ fear and spoke harshly to them saying:  “You of little faith, why are you so afraid” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.” (Matthew 8: 26). Jesus wasn’t moved by the storm because He knew who He was. He was confident in His power and authority to rebuke the storm and command it to subside.

Luke 10: 19 says: “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” God has given us the power and authority to overcome the enemy – to trample on every and anything that poses a threat to us, our health, our family, our marriage, our jobs, our relationship with our children, our finances – everything!

The disciples cried out to Him because they didn’t recognise their own authority; the authority God has given them to command and rebuke every storm that threatened their life. God doesn’t want us to cry out to Him in fear of drowning in our situation. He is not moved by our storm – He knows who He is! And He wants us to recognise our authority in Him, accept it and use it to the His glory!

The Bible says that the same spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead lives in us (Romans 8:11). The disciples had Jesus in the boat with them, and as He was with them so He is with us today. And if we claim that the spirit of God lives inside of us, that same spirit should manifest in and through us.

So whatever storm you’re facing today, don’t let it scare and drown you. Use your authority, address your storm and command it to leave your life in the mighty name of Jesus! And so shall it be!
